Exhibition

The proposals

Each of the shortlisted artists has spent three months researching their proposal for the commission. The exhibition explores the inspiration and ideas behind the proposals and displays sketches, drawings and mock-ups of the work they hope will become a permanent addition to the Museum.

Darwin

Darwin’s ideas and what inspired him are examined, starting with the voyage of the Beagle and covering the stages that led him to develop and present his ground-breaking ideas.

Museum and judges on film

Museum scientist Sandy Knapp, the exhibition’s curator Bergit Arends and two judges, Richard Cork and Judith King, discuss the architecture of the building, how the project is relevant, and the thinking behind it.

Artists on film

This film is a collection of short interviews with each artist speaking about their proposals and the inspiration behind them.
