Events

  • Can I see Darwin’s finch specimens?
  • Is it possible to create a dinosaur animation?
  • Can kids come and learn to tie-dye and make mosaics?

Yes is the answer to all these questions, by participating in our exclusive and varied programme of Member events, most of which are free.

Imagine discovering how the Second World War affected our precious specimens while you tour the world-class Palaeontology Conservation Unit, or seeing Darwin’s priceless finches close up as you venture behind the scenes at the Natural History Museum at Tring in Hertfordshire.

Our exciting children’s workshops include engaging activities like creating a dinosaur animation to take home in Dinomation, or making artistic fish mosaics in Funky Fish while learning about the different species. We run summer and winter camps, packed with workshops, tours, art activities and day trips.

Other Member events include:

  • Exhibition previews – escape the rush with exclusive previews before they open to the public
  • Trips to other organisations – experience special tours of like-minded institutions that work with the Museum
  • Field trips – get stuck-in with trips ranging from geological excavations and fossil hunting to bird watching
  • Lectures – hear our scientists share their passion for the Museum and the natural world, from meteorites and ornithology to the ancient human occupation of Britain and the history of our beautiful Museum building
