How science works

This activity is free and has curriculum links appropriate for KS4 students.

Watch your students transform into Museum scientists as they solve a real scientific problem using an authentic practical procedure.

This activity has been developed with our scientists to reflect the new KS4 curriculum changes, highlighting true working methods and giving an insight into how science works.

Students are challenged to determine the geological age of a clay sample, using palaeontological techniques to reveal microfossil species present. The data collected is then interpreted and the method evaluated to reach a consensus as a class.
