The Directors’ Group
Our Directors embody the Museum’s spirit for discovery and learning. From overseeing the critical relaunch of London Zoo, through to publishing important research papers on tropical diseases and piloting new learning and welfare programmes, each is a proven innovator in their professional field. All inspire both staff and visitors by their example.
The Directors’ Group is responsible for running the Museum under the leadership of the Director of the Museum, who is appointed by the Board of Trustees. The Director of the Museum is the Accounting Officer for the purposes of reporting to the Government via the Board of Trustees and has their delegated responsibility for the general administration of the Museum.
The current Directors of the Natural History Museum are:
- Dr Michael Dixon – Director of the Museum
- Professor Richard Paul Lane – Director of Science
- Ms Sharon Ament – Director of Public Engagement
- Mr Neil Greenwood – Director of Finance and Administration
- Mr Paul Brereton - Director of Human Resources
- Ms Teresa Wild - Director of Policy and Planning and Director of the Natural History Museum at Tring
- Mr David Sanders – Director of Estates
Mr David Thorpe - Head of Audit and Assurance has a non-executive role in the Director's Group providing input on governance, risk and control issues.
